Format: In-8 (18.3 x 11 cm/7.21 x 4.33 inches), 8 ff. - 686 pp - 1 p., Greeks and Roman types, contemporary full parchment with flaps, traces of the closing ties.

Binding: contemporary binding.

Ex libris: Handwritten owner's inscriptions on the first pastedown ('Joannes Laurentius') and on title, ex-libris of a library of Helborn in Germany ('Sum ex libris Salentini Glaseri Herbipol. Anno 1598').

First edition of this treatise in Latin which is quite rare and whose only 2 copies is found in US libraries (NUC 1031099). Very few details is known about Christoph Sturtz [ +1602 ] who was native of in the ancient Russian province Livonia and professor at the university of Rostock in Mecklembourg. The present work, dedicated to Sigismond III Vasa (1566-1632), king of Poland (1587-1632) and of Sweden (1592-1599), deals with Roman law, Legal Maxima and is enamelled with Latin quotations and with quotations in Greeks types. It is enriched by the printer's mark at the colophon and by large decorated ornamental letters. 

The legal work Commentary on the Norms of Civil Law by Nobleman of Livonia and Professor of History at the University of Rostock Christopher Sturci (~1557–1602) is dedicated to the King of Poland and Grand Duchy of Lithuania Sigismund Vasa.
