Second, revised and enlarged edition of this work concerning libraries, universities and other learned institutions in Italy, Germany, Poland, Spain, England and other European countries. It was first published in 1567. The first two parts is a history of the ancient universities and the third part (pp. 219-634) is a presentation of the present. Jakob Middendorp (Jacobus Middendorpius) (c.1537-1611) was a Dutch Catholic theologian and churchman, academic and historian. There is a mention of a Petrus Roirius from Lithuania at the university at Cracow.
