A stunning piece of work by Kazimierz Stabrowski, both in terms of the plot and the manner in which it is done. A balance between symbolism and impression; between a Christian plot and one that is Oriental. There are many layers of meaning to it. The painter’s interior pictorial licence is a marvel. Paintings that the artist painted on his travels carry a unique charge of energy and are quite impactful. In this regard, Stabrowski always appears to be a bit different; you think you recognise him, but he seems to shift before your very eyes at the same time with his symbolism and the peculiar mood of the abstract, one that suggests that this is but a sketch. His paintings bear a semblance to the pyramids of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis.
